Truly one of my favourite shoots to date. Whenever Tarli is involved with any one of her stunning horses, you just know you’re going to have a wonderful time. This was my second session for Tarli, the first being every bit as magical as this. You may recognise her 3 beautiful horses displayed in the banner on my homepage. This beach shoot had been in the works for some time, and when the stars finally aligned to allow us both the opportunity, we took it.

Bella Ragazzo, or Alfie as he is affectionately nicknamed, is a 19 year old Warmblood who doesn’t look or act his age in the slightest. Tarli has owned Alfie for 11 years, originally purchasing him off a women who had bought him from the renowned Heath Ryan at Auction of the Stars. In those years Tarli took Alfie to competing at medium level dressage. She retired him from competition a few years ago due to an injury, so now he enjoys leisurely rides at home and trips to the forest and beach, which he loves! He was also very successful in the hunter ring before retirement.

Alfie is an exceptionally quirky boy. On the surface you’d be right in saying he is known for his laid back and somewhat grumpy demeanour, however once you get past that he is simply a loveable gentleman. His favourite things in life are fizzy drinks! Coke, lemonade, anything sweet and bubbly. Followed closely by inner ear scratches.

It’s very evident that these two have an exceptionally special bond. When asked what Tarli loves most about Alfie, she replied with “I’ll be forever grateful for all that he has taught me.”
