FAQ’s

Q: Location and time?

A: My portrait sessions generally take place in the early evening. This is to ensure we capture the beautiful golden hour lighting, which produces a lovely warm glow. Shooting in the middle of the day is not recommended as it throws a very harsh light and induces unflattering shadows. Black Series sessions are best done in the early afternoon to ensure adequate lighting.

Ideal locations include a lot of greenery and open spaces. If you are unsure if your location is suitable you are welcome to send me images and I can tell you if it will be suitable. I can generally make many locations work with a little bit of planning on my behalf so don’t worry too much. However if you are comfortable floating your horse to another location with better scenery I am happy to travel. I have numerous locations I can advise on, or am more than happy to work out one with you.

Q: I have multiple outfit changes in my session, what outfits should I choose?

A: I always recommend that you choose colours that will compliment your horses coat. Busy patterns and bright colours are not advised, instead think neutral colours such as beige/mustard/sage. A dress is always a must to get those fancier shots, however if you’re not a dress kind gal, a well fitting pair of jeans and a blouse paired with some killer boots look great. Having make up and hair done is highly recommended but I encourage you to feel comfortable above all else. I go into detail about the best outfit choices for the shoot, to flatter your body shape and even what clothing suits your horses coat colour in my session guide!

Q: How should I present my horse?

A: I suggest you follow the same show preparation that you might do for a show, eg, washed and clean, clipped, painted hooves, make up and clean tack. Don’t worry, I send you all this information in my session guide!

Q: What if my horse has a scar or blemish?

A: Not to worry I can almost always edit out any blemishes or scars if required however I can't make a dirty horse clean! I cannot edit thick bridles or halters off of your horse. If you wish for your horse to appear at liberty I suggest a thin rope halter or a neck rope.

Q: What happens after my photoshoot? When/where do I see the finished images?

A: The photo viewing will take place within 2 weeks of your session, on a day we select together, in-person. This is where you get chance to look and pick out the images that you like.

Q: Do you travel out of Adelaide?

A: Yes. I cover a radius of 30 kilometres from Para Hills, anything out of that radius, I charge $1 per kilometre.

Q: How do I pay you?

A: Your session fee is the retainer that is required at the time of booking to lock in your session. Please note your booking will be cancelled and the time slot may be re-advertised should payment not occur within 24 hours.

Q: What if I need to cancel? Can I reschedule?

A: Cancelled appointments will forfeit your booking deposit, unless an emergency presents itself in which I will offer a rescheduled date. Should there be inclement weather on your session date, I will chat to you about rescheduling depending on the conditions.

 Q: What if you cancel?

A:  This is an extremely rare situation. I take my work very seriously and would not cancel unless an emergency presented itself that was out of my control. In this event, I will contact you to reschedule and discuss further.

Q: How do I pay for my artwork?

A:  You can pay upfront through a secure payment portal, Square, during your purchasing appointment. Alternatively a lay-by system with PayRight allows you to collect your order and enjoy your artworks as soon as they are printed. Pay from 10% deposit at your purchase appointment and choose to pay off over a 3, 6 or 12 month period. The simple sign-up process is completed at your session.
