A warm welcome to all of my followers. It’s been a little while since I’ve made a blog post, so if you’re still here I thank you. This year has been a trying one but this session absolutely lit a new fire under me. I think all creatives struggle with motivation from time to time, but it’s important not to give up hope. It’s also important to never forget why you started your journey. Be kind to yourself and everything else will fall into place.

Now for the good stuff. I have known Lemara for a long time now, and she is every bit as strong and determined as she is beautiful. I have been watching her journey with her new mare Blaze for some time now and they have gone from strength to strength, so when I reached out to her regarding a post she’d made looking for a photographer, I was thrilled that she trusted me to capture her story. This was their first offical photoshoot and I think they absolutely killed it. From the very start I could see their bond was the real thing. This kind of connection can’t be faked, it’s built from hours and hours of hard work and dedication. Lemara purchased Blaze a little over 2 years ago as a fresh young mare. In this time she has shared her first ride, first competition, first win, first champion. And in this they have formed the most amazing bond which genuinely spilled over into my images. Every shot told a story and I just about cried when I saw the images displayed.

We did our standard portrait session and after this Lemara asked if she could also capture some ridden work. It was a freezing afternoon but the winter light was perfect so we made our way over to the arena. In lieu of your traditional ridden images Lemara swapped the bridle for the halter. She advised me she wanted to show the true connection she had with this mare and it blew me away. So soft and willing, and kind was this mare. Completely in tune with her rider, and the images speak for themselves.

And with this I am overjoyed to announce that Lemara and Blaze will be my first sponsored partnership. I couldn’t ask for a better representation of what I believe in as a horsewomen and photographer. I am truly looking forward to following their journey into the future at events, on adventures and just at home. They have a very bright future ahead of then indeed. And without further adieu, their session images.
