As an equine photographer, every session brings a new story and a unique bond between horse and rider. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing Jasmin and her two horses, Cowboy and Rebel, and I was blown away by the love and dedication she has for her equine partners.

Jasmin has owned Cowboy for roughly 5 years and Rebel for almost 2 years. Cowboy was initially a project for Jasmin's mum, but he soon captured Jasmin's heart, becoming her "heart horse." The pair currently competes in barrel racing, but this year they're trying some new things. Rebel, on the other hand, is a rising 2-year-old who will be making his showing debut soon. Jasmin is working on his career before he becomes a stud.

When I asked Jasmin about her favourite memory of Cowboy, she recounted the time when they were nominated for a barrel racing demonstration at the Royal Adelaide Show. It was a day she'll never forget! As for Rebel, Jasmin's fondest memory was the first time he had "zoomies." Rebel was a part of a neglected Appaloosa herd, so he didn't have the best start to life. But after some TLC, he soon showed his true colours.

During our equine photography session, I could see the bond between Jasmin and her horses. Cowboy's gentle yet determined personality and Rebel's playful and curious nature shone through in each photograph. As we captured their essence, Jasmin's self-consciousness started to fade away. She shared with me that she was nervous leading up to the shoot, but the minute Aaron and I started working our magic, the nerves disappeared. I was honoured to hear her say that I truly made her feel confident and relaxed, and that helped achieve the absolute perfect shots.

As a professional equine photographer, it's important to me that every session is tailored to the horse and rider's unique personality and bond. I believe that's what sets me apart, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to capture moments that will be cherished for a lifetime. Jasmin's testimonial left me speechless with the professionalism and caring nature of both myself and Aaron. It's clients like her that make this job so rewarding.
