What a year

2020, where to begin? Last year was a lot of different things to a lot of different people. For some it spelled the end of jobs, social lives, sanity even. For others it was the start of something new, something fresh and better. Personally I found it to be a year of contemplation, to really evaluate what was important to me. I too wasn’t immune to losing my (day) job temporarily, and seeing my business really take a downturn. This year was an enforced break, we had no choice but to slow down. To rest even. In those downtimes I wondered if I would ever bounce back, if I would ever get my business back to where it was and more-so. It was meant to be the year I really pushed hard and propelled my photography to the next level. I found it hard to sit idly by with no new content to post, no ideas and no motivation. But there was a light at the end of the tunnel, the curtain of uncertainty lifted and things seemed to start to return to normal.

On the other side of the lockdown I found people were eager to get out and support local business, they were hungry to reconnect to things that meant a lot to them and really take stock of their lives. People wanted to create memories of the things they treasured, and that was a service I could provide. I got my first booking post lockdown, a BBG. Amazing I thought! I couldn’t wait to get out and start doing what I loved. And another booking came in, and another! And soon enough I found myself with almost more work than I could comfortably carry whilst juggling my regular working life. With each and every shoot I had I gained more motivation, more appreciation that this truly was what I wanted to spend my time doing. With this new found fire in my belly I carved out some time to upgrade my workflow. I revamped my website and my sessions, I invested more time into creating my post session artwork shop and my post client experience. Everything finally clicked into place, and as I enter my third year of business and the fresh start 2021 brings I am more focussed and determined than ever to make this my best year. With bookings already rolling in I am so committed to this journey and I am so thankful to everyone who has supported me along the way, 2021 better watch out because I am absolutely coming for it.

Below I are some of my favourite images from the last year, the images that reignited my dreams. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
